The Villa Dria estate is also the story of a man: Jean-Pierre Drieux, who has chosen to stay as close as possible to nature and to the laws dictated by the land of Gascony when listening to him.

Gourmet Nature

To understand the spirit of the wines of Villa Dria, a detour is required by the relationship that Jean-Pierre Drieux has with his land. Two environmental approaches focus its attention: geobiology and biodynamics. Both are based on an intuitive and empirical relation to the terroir which links the deep knowledge of the soils to the harmonious conduct of natural cycles. It is therefore through research focused on power and balance that the wines of Villa Dria. The most demonstrative range of fresh and fruity wines produced by the estate is called Gourmet Nature. Among the three cuvées that compose it, the one named Wild side has just been distinguished by a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole 2019.

Wild side

The blend that determines the cuvée Wild side combines Colombard at 70% and Sauvignon at 30%. This white wine from Cotes de Gascony, aged on fine lees, pushes the marriage of the two grape varieties towards their optimal harmony. Mainly bearing the typical signature of Colombard, it reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity where lemony citrus fruits, well marked on the finish, alongside an opening on exotic fruits. The alliance with Sauvignon strengthens its breadth while introducing this touch of minerality which anchors the wine in its original terroir. The proximity between the ocean and the Gascon lands blows Wild side not only its name but also its invigorating and fruity profile which predisposes it to successfully accompany the iodized flavors of fish and seafood.
