Le Domaine La Croix Belle is established in a small village in Bitterois. It is also the stronghold of the family Boyer, main contributor to the creation of theIGP Côtes de Thongue, born from the unifying determination of Jacques Boyer.
A family estate of reference
Le Domaine La Croix Belle is located Puissalicon, a small village located north of Béziers, distinguished by its picturesque circulation. It is the stronghold of a very old wine-growing family, to be counted among those which actively contributed to the development of the Languedoc terroirs. The current patriarch is Jacques Boyer, who has ensured the reputation of the estate since 1977, always assisted by his wife Françoise. More recently, the family spirit which ensures the sustainability of the estate has been consolidated by integrating the latest generation. They are two brothers, Emmanuel et Benoît, who today ensure the dynamic succession. The Croix Belle estate has thus become a wine company which now asserts itself under the identity Jacques Boyer & Son.
A revealer of the Côtes de Thongue
The wine terroir itself has a strong identity. The vineyard has developed in a region where, since antiquity, culture has been forged by constant mixing of populations. It must be said that this land, which stretches between the Massif Central and the Mediterranean, enjoys climatic and geological qualities that are singularly conducive to the production of wines. We are here in the heart of Côtes de Thongue, where the cohabitation of layers of clay, limestone, gravel, silt or pebbles compete with the diversity of grape varieties. Because on this earthIGP, the palette is lively and has great potential. Thus, in red, it is the Grenaches, Syrah, or Cabernet Sauvignon which lead the dance. In white, it is Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, or even Muscat petit grain which give the answer. The expressive palettes are particularly generous. They are the whole point of the appellation, which is certainly one of the most demonstrative of the Languedoc.
A demonstrative showcase of the terroir
The wines produced by Domaine La Croix Belle bear the signature of both the terroir and the climate. The sun is generous here and sees its heat offset by the proximity of the sea. The sea breeze, provider of freshness, is regularly relayed by the awakening of the Mistral or the Tramontana. Let us add to this the opportune variety of geological layers, and we will understand that the varietal typicities of the grape varieties are enriched by this character mosaic claimed by the slogan of the appellation itself. At Domaine La Croix Belle, this broad spectrum of expressions finds its evocative translation in the title of the wine ranges: White Elysium, Cascaillou, Lily Field, Camp del Gal, without forgetting the vintages Caringole and the very distinguished N° 7, vinified in red, white and rosé. If there is a place that synthesizes the expressive range of Côtes de Thongue because he also carries the torch, the Domaine La Croix Belle is undoubtedly one of the first caves to visit.
An environmental commitment
Le Domaine La Croix Belle, exemplary of the environmental consideration that drives the IGP Côtes de Thongue, stands out for its global approach. Each stage of the production chain is supported by commitment which is also a signature of the wine house.
Ozone and trellising
Certain viticulture techniques on the estate break with Languedoc pruning traditions by favoring fruit walls treated with ozonated water.
Densimetric sorting
At each harvest, the qualitative requirement is based on a sorting technique that is unusual in the wine sector, and which uses a densimetric selection of the berries.
Purification and bamboo
Water recycling is a problem in the wine sector. On the estate, it is based on a natural purification system, provided by bamboo plantations.
