IGP Pays d'Oc

PGI Pays d'Oc
Territory of the IGP Pays d'Oc.

Terroirs and climates

THEIGP Pays d'Oc is one of the largest in Occitania. It encompasses in fact the two great wine regions of the Mediterranean rim: the Languedoc and Roussillon. The specifications relating to this vast territory offer winegrowers the license to exploit a range of more thanaround sixty grape varieties. The flexibility of constraints and the variety of grape varieties are a pledge of creativity for red wines, rosé wines and white wines produced under this label. The rich nuances of terroirs, the diversity of micro-climates and the plurality of grape varieties are all factors that stimulate the inspiration of winegrowers. THE'IGP Pays d'Oc is a mine of wine inventiveness where the meeting of a few nuggets is never the result of chance.

Wines and grape varieties

On the land of Languedoc and Roussillon red wines dominate by tradition. They occupy more than half of the production. International grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah prevail in the first place, complemented by Mediterranean grape varieties such as Mourvèdre or Carignan. White wines follow, for which Chardonnay, Sauvignon or Viognier commonly coexist with Roussanne, Marsanne or even Grenaches or Muscat à petits grains. Rosé wines follow closely behind them, honoring Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache noir. If the blends are of good quality in winemaking, theIGP Pays d'Oc is also characterized by the expression of single-grape varieties which are as much revealing of terroirs as expressive witnesses of the know-how of the winegrowers.
