Wines, terroirs, winemakers of Occitanie
If the Limoux appellation is renowned for its sparkling wines, the terroir is also very favorable to still wines. The proof is provided by Anne de Joyeuse whose cooperative production is entirely dedicated to red, white and rosé wines.
Labeled Vineyards & Discoveries since 2019, Chateau Laurou stands out as one of the major areas of Fronton labeled organic. Another distinction and not the least: Guy Salmona who has been at the head of the estate since 1997 has been ranked "best winegrower in the Frontonborn 2018”.
Whether we speak Armagnac or Liqueur, at Domaine de Saoubis everything is orchestrated by respect for nature and the desire to restore the intact strength of essences and plant aromas. Maurice de Mandelaëre has a mastery of it which is to be tasted with pleasure just as much as it is heard with passion.
In the Fronton vines grown to organic standards are rare. Château Boujac is one of them and deserves a stop. So we will taste wines that are both typical of the AOC and of a spontaneity where the fruit is expressed in good balance and full intensity.
Vinified without sulphites, the cuvée Sketch du Domain Rotier goes with the freshness and vitality of the summer season.
On the La Clape vineyard there is a name that stands out in the foreground: Chateau Pech Redon. Borrowing its title from one of the most picturesque sites in the massif, the estate is exemplary of the Mediterranean characteristics which distinguish the wines of the appellation. It is also one of the most respectful of the protected natural park which makes its environment.
Le Domaine Seailles is established in Mouchan, in the Gers. As of tradition in Cotes de Gascony, Armagnac and wines with aromatic signatures typical of the appellation form the heart of its production. With a notorious singularity: that of an entirely organic production.
In Cadalen, in the Gaillac vineyard, Domain Rotier is equally distinguished by its terroir of serious than by its labeling in organic viticulture. The attentive work of the vine, the mastery of the grape varieties, give substance to wines of appellation with careful breeding.
If in the vineyard Fronton the reputation of wines from Chateau Plaisance is no longer to be done, the virtuous stance adopted by Marc Penavayre for the cultivation of its vines deserves our attention.
Located in the Gaillac vineyard, the domain Five Peyres is driven by Charles Bonnafont, one of the young winegrowers of the appellation. The estate, which benefits from a remarkable topography and landscape, is fully exploited in biodynamic agriculture.
The following article predates fall 2018. Since that date, the Mas du Soleilla has changed owners. Acquired by the vineyards Gérard Bertrand, it is now attached to the wine and wine tourism complex of Chateau l'Hospitalet.

Built on a very old area of Gaillac vineyard, Mayragues Castle is already in itself an architectural pearl of the XNUMXthe century perfectly restored. Examples of biodynamic viticulture, the Gaillac wines which are produced there are at the same time a creative, coherent and controlled expression of the appellation.
