The production area of Muscat de Rivesaltes extends over almost all Roussillon and even pushes to Southern Corbiรจres et Fitou. The largest volumes, however, are concentrated on the neighboring plains of Rivesaltes. In this Mediterranean climate with a high rate of sunshine, the maturities are early and ring the hour for the harvest in August. The Muscat of Alexandria brings power and amplitude to the harvest while the Muscat with small grains is appreciated for its aromatic signature more marked by honey, citrus fruits or exotic fruits. Both contribute to the making of these natural sweet wines with bouquets as pleasant as they are typical and which are generally called to be tasted during the year. The provision for early tasting is even more necessary with the Christmas Muscat which is consumed from the third Thursday in November and until January. In Roussillon, as its name suggests, it is customary for it to brighten up Christmas tables with its dress and its aromas. The greater proportion of Muscat ร petits grains which composes it contributes to the festive accentuation of the blend. Very different from Rivesaltes, another natural sweet wine from the Eastern Pyrenees, the Muscat de Rivesaltes is a pure expression of the Catalan sun, firmly fixed on the affirmation of fruit and freshness.
