The vineyard Pic Saint Loup unfolds north of Montpellier, as an extension of a garrigue landscape. Located in the foothills of the Cévennes under the Causse de l'Hortus, it is dominated by the Saint-Loup peak from which it takes its name. Very favorable conditions prevail here for the production of renowned wines. If heat and Mediterranean drought qualify the regional climate, they are compensated here by Cévennes influences, cooler and wetter. In this context exposed to strong thermal amplitudes, the vineyard thrives with vitality. Syrah, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre form the appellation's favorite trio. It is best suited to the variety of soils in the Pic Saint Loup where the limestone scree of the Cévennes mingle with pebbles or alluvial layers deposited by the sea in the past. The plant environment is itself an aromatic concert in which all the variations of Mediterranean flora are expressed. From this vineyard spread over plots in the heart of the scrubland, deep and velvety wines are extracted. The reds, which are in the majority, lean towards fruits and spices with some accents of aromatic plants. The rosés, more discreet in the appellation, are characterized by their balance and finely regulated fruit. If the AOC Pic Saint Loup is a very young appellation, its consecration testifies to the exceptional character of its wines. This success is served by an unequaled terroir which is magnified by the constant effort of its winegrowers.
